Like thousands of other June brides and grooms, your big lifetime moment has finally arrived: your wedding day! It's been a flurry of activity over the last few months to prepare for it, especially with efforts to look your absolute best. And you remembered everything—including your smile, right?
If you did, kudos to you. Your smile is an important part of your unique personality and thus merits its own special attention. If, however, in all the hustle and bustle you weren't able to give it the attention it deserves before the wedding, don't fret. When it comes to your smile, it's never too late to make it the best it can be.
Depending on your dental situation, here are four ways to achieve a more confident and attractive smile.
Teeth Whitening. Yellowed and dull teeth can dim the beauty of your smile. While daily brushing and flossing helps, you can further improve your teeth's brightness with professional teeth whitening. Our bleaching techniques can give you the shade you desire, from naturally subdued to Hollywood dazzling. And with proper maintenance and touch-ups, your brighter smile could last for years.
Veneers. Dental imperfections like chips, heavy staining or slight tooth gaps can detract from an otherwise perfect smile. We can mask those imperfections with veneers, thin layers of porcelain custom-created to match your teeth. Although less expensive and less invasive than some other cosmetic procedures, veneers can have a transformative impact on your appearance.
Restorations. Sometimes a smile may suffer from severely distressed or missing teeth. Depending on what you need, we can restore your teeth—and your smile—with crowns, bridges or dental implants. The third option is the closest we can come to a real tooth, replacing both a missing tooth's crown and root. With an implant, you can have a new tooth that looks and functions like the real thing.
Orthodontics. Properly aligned teeth make for a beautiful smile. If yours aren't as straight as you'd like them to be, consider orthodontics, the original “smile makeover.” Moving teeth where they ought to be improves dental health and function, and can dramatically improve the appearance of a smile. Even if you're well past your teen years, you haven't missed out: As long as you're reasonably healthy, you can gain a straighter smile at any age. However, this improvement needs more time and planning—so don't wait if that's what you want to do!
If you still have time before the wedding, a dental cleaning and polish can do wonders for your smile (and your dental health too). But even if you aren't able to fit in an appointment before the big day, you can still pursue a cleaning or cosmetic procedure after the honeymoon. Any time is the right time to change your smile for the better.

Your cosmetic dentists in Edison, New Jersey can give you an outstanding smile
Having a beautiful smile is important. After all, your smile is your trademark. Fortunately, if you are living with a dull, yellow, uninteresting smile, Drs. Saul and David Frechtman of Frechtman Family Dental in Edison, NJ, offer a wide range of cosmetic dentistry options to give you an amazing set of teeth.
Let’s consider just a few of the amazing cosmetic dentistry services available:
Professional teeth whitening: this is an excellent choice to brighten up a dull, aging smile and take years off of your appearance. That's because this treatment can whiten your smile up to 8 shades whiter with fantastic results that can last up to 5 years! It’s safe too, for all products and methods have been tested and approved by the American Dental Association. During a consultation, you can choose from a speedy in-office treatment that takes about an hour, or a convenient take-home kit that allows you to whiten your smile at your own pace.
Cosmetic bonding: this is the perfect solution to repair small chips, cracks, tooth wear, and other unsightly damage. Bonding uses composite, a material that can be matched to the color of your teeth, creating results that look completely natural.
Porcelain veneers: this treatment can take your smile from dull to dazzling in just a couple of appointments. Veneers are thin laminates of porcelain that are cemented on to the front surfaces of your teeth to hide both minor and major aesthetic issues like cracks, fractures, chips, tooth wear, and other problems. Porcelain reflects light, looks just like tooth enamel, and successfully resists stains. Accordingly, your porcelain veneers will look completely natural and stay both white and beautiful for years.

Shape, size, color, fit, arrangement
Whether we realize it or not. we notice these things whenever someone smiles. If teeth are oddly shaped, too small or too big, darkly stained, or gapped and crowded, we draw certain conclusions about the person's personality. Research bears it out, says the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Additionally, smile appearance impacts what we believe about ourselves. If we're too ashamed to smile, we may not feel competent at work, home or in social situations.

You have a winning smile except for one small flaw — one of your front teeth is chipped. In functional terms the defect is insignificant: your tooth is healthy and can still do its job. But with regard to your smile that chip is like a smudge on a masterpiece painting: it stands out — and not in a good way.
The good news is you have options to repair the chip and vastly improve your appearance. One option is to bond a custom porcelain veneer to the outside of the tooth to cover the chip. But that would also mean removing a slight bit of tooth enamel so the veneer won't appear too bulky. Although not as much as with a crown, the alteration still permanently affects the tooth — it will always require a restoration of some kind.
There's another choice that doesn't involve removing any of your enamel: composite resin. This treatment is a mixture of materials with a glass-like binder in liquid form that we apply to a tooth in successive coats. As we build up the layers we can match the tooth's shape, texture and various shades of its natural color. We're able to fill in the defect and make the tooth appear as natural as possible.
Unlike porcelain restorations, composite resins don't require a dental lab or a period of weeks to prepare. We can transform your simile in our office in as little as one visit.
Composite resin isn't the answer for every tooth defect. Teeth that have become worn, fractured or have undergone a root canal treatment are best treated with a porcelain restoration such as a veneer or crown. But where the defect is relatively minor, composite resin may be the answer.
To learn if you can benefit from a composite resin restoration, you'll need to undergo a dental exam. If we determine you're a candidate, we can use this state-of-the-art dental material to make your teeth look flawless.
If you would like more information on composite resins, please contact us or schedule an appointment for a consultation. You can also learn more about this topic by reading the Dear Doctor magazine article “Artistic Repair of Front Teeth with Composite Resin.”
Tooth loss remains a very common problem for a large number of American adults. If you have been living with tooth loss, rest assured that you are not alone. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), over 45% of adults over the age of 30 are missing at least one tooth. And while the risk for periodontal disease and tooth loss generally increases after age 65, it can happen to anyone at any time. Edison, NJ based dentists Dr. Saul Frechtman and Dr. David Frechtman recommend dental implants for adult patients suffering partial or full tooth loss.
Improve Your Smile and Oral Health with Dental Implants in Edison, NJ
Most dental restorations restore the crown of a missing tooth, but implants also replace the root, which helps to secure the crown in place and prevents the erosion of the bone tissue in your gums, a major side effect of tooth loss and a threat to oral health. Using a small titanium screw, the dentist will surgically place the implant in the socket of the missing tooth, which then fuses with the surrounding bone tissue (known as osseointegration).
The cosmetic crown is then attached to the implant, which looks, functions and feels just like a natural tooth. Implants are biocompatible and have a very high success rate when cared for properly. In addition to practicing rigorous oral hygiene, you must also commit to regular follow up care and check-ups with the dentist to avoid complications.
An implant can replace a single tooth or anchor a complete set of dentures with just a few implants. Dental implants are available for adult patients in good general health. You must also have enough bone density to support the implant.
